An Addicts Best Nightmare

assorted wine bottles

Last night I dreamed

I woke up in screams

The room was ill lit

Anxiety hit

Billard balls clacking

Someone is racking

I sit at a bar

The surface is scarred

Initials etched deep

A chill starts to creep

Without words spoken

The barkeep opens

Vodka and he pours

Scent making me mourn

The oath I pledged

My resolve edging

Barkeep passes me

A drink for me, free

My resolve dissolves

Later I will solve

How to explain this

To my dear Misses

One last drink or two

Then more than a few

I woke up ashamed

Basking in self-blame

But what is the worst?

Never ending thirst
