Adapting love

These years have passed

Nothing seems to last

The boy you married

The years didn’t carry

He became a man

Nothing passed as planned

I’ve grown wild

Nothing like the child

Trying to please

Living on lease

I’ve learned my lesson

My “give-a-damn” has lessened

But our love has grown stronger

Fear of being hurt is no longer

A new year, a new personality

No fear, our love has versatility

You have set me free

Allowing me to be me

Allowing me to see

A better me to be

I’ve been a fool, full of folly

Indecisive, I’d volly

Neither wise nor sage

But you’ve quelled my rage

Stronger and wiser today

Because by my side you’ve stayed
