Prayer of Thanks Giving

a family praying together before thanksgiving meal

Lord of love

Grand giver of grace

We give thanks above

For this day we nary chase

This morning, this moment

This evening, the eventual

Life’s relay we relent

We reunite for this ritual

As we eat, we bid this bird

To nourish broken bodies

Mend us with merry words

And good food, Grannies tater totties

Thank you for cousins and kin

For constant moving moms and dads

Who had long drives in

Though we be wanton and sad

For those who could not make it

We thank all those who could

We remember those homeward taken

If they could be here they would

Lord, we pass along this prayer

To say thanks again

For food feast, family, and friends so rare

Lord, thank you, amen
